Nutrition at Newgrange

Fresh food for healthy bodies & minds

At Newgrange we believe that food and nutrition are two of the most important factors in the well being of our residents.
For a start good food is important for everyone's enjoyment of life and particularly so for the elderly and the frail. Good nutrition is vital for sustenance and recovery.

Delicious home cooked food in our Care Home in Cheshunt

Fresh food for healthy bodies and minds

All of our food is freshly prepared on the premises by our own team of qualified cooks.

Each resident is individually assessed for their dietary needs, whether that be for medical or cultural requirements. We monitor each resident's food intake to ensure sufficient nutrition and balance in their diet. We use fresh local organic ingredients wherever possible including meats, fresh, never frozen fish, eggs, potatoes and other vegetables. Meals can be taken in the dining room or in a resident's own bedroom whichever is their preference.

Our chef has extensive knowledge of how to cater for residents with Diabetes. She has undertaken further nutrition training to ensure that she can meet their specific dietary requirements.

Newgrange Autumn & Winter Menus

We design 4 weeks of menus to suit the seasons.

We gain input from our residents before designing our menus, so that we can cook their favourite dishes.

Please see our Autumn & Winter Menus below as a preview of the lovely food the residents' enjoy in our home.

Overall Experience 5 out of 5

Staff are caring and supportive carrying out duties with good humour and kindness. Communication is readily conveyed as to the needs of my mother. Entertainment is intrinsic to daily life at the Newgrange and encouragement is given to those residents who require that extra bit of positivity. Hearty

meals are served at lunchtime and residents are encouraged to sit down together as a family for group camaraderie and general bonding.

Overall Experience 5 out of 5

I have been happy living here. I have been here just over a year and I feel I have been lucky.

I am happy because it is free going, I please myself and have my own routine. The staff are pleasant and easy to get along with. They really care for me.
