Alison Wood - Registered Manager and founder of Newgrange Care Home

Alison helped set up Old Grange up in 1984 and assisted in the establishment of Newgrange in 2002. Alison is passionate about creating the best possible environment for older people and enabling them to live their lives as normally as possible. As registered manager she has overall responsibility for the running of the home and manages the care team to make sure they give their best at all times.

Lynda Beckett -  Deputy Manager

Lynda has worked at Newgrange and its predecessor for 20 years. Lynda is the key Duty Manager in respect of care and ensures a full and active agenda. She praises and encourages the homely atmosphere and the closeness of staff and residents which creates a really happy relaxed environment. Lynda also looks after staff rotas.

After many high profile roles and between them 60 years in service oriented roles Nick and David started in the care sector in 2007. They both have a real passion for achieving excellence in everything they do and have invested heavily to create a state of the art care environment in each of the 3 Care Homes.

Alex’s background is in psychology and education. These skills will enable her to enhance the homes so that they are even more nurturing with happy, caring environments. Her aim is to help develop the staff further so that they can focus on client centred care and best meet the interests of every resident.  

Staff Overview: We have over 32 members of contracted staff in our home. We have no agency staff in our home. We are pleased to share that some of our staff have been with us for over 30 years. We have a high ratio of experienced Carer’s to Residents, as well as activity staff supporting our residents each day.

There is a large Italian community in the Cheshunt area, and we are privileged to have several Italian residents in our home. Several of our staff are also Italian, which creates a culturally rich environment with staff being able to communicate to residents in their native language.

We also have staff who are Romanian, Hungarian and Spanish, which creates a multi-cultural home and can provide extra support for residents from those countries.


Maria Defoe - Floor Manager

Maria has been with the company since 2002. Maria is passionate about delivering high quality care to our residents and leads by example. She is fluent in Italian and speaks Spanish. She is our coach for End of Life Care, she promotes dignity and respect and shows compassion to our resident’s families.

Karen Heaton - Care Manager

Karen leads the care team to ensure high quality care is given to all our residents. She has been in the care industry for 20 years.

Sue Gaywood - Teamleader

Sue has 30 years of experience of working in care homes. She is our ‘In-House’ Moving and Handling expert and trainer.

Michael Montouri - Cleaner

Michael is our cleaner who has been with us since 2015. He speaks Italian as well as English, so loves chatting to our residents that are from Italy.


Ryan Kyriacou - Chef

Ryan is our chef at Newgrange, he was previously the chef for the Tottenham Football Club Team, so he takes great care and enthusiasm in the presentation and taste of the food. The residents and staff love the taste and variety of the food he prepares.

Andreea Coldea - Care Manager

Andreea ensures staff understand residents' care needs and so deliver excellent care. She also ensures that all residents have accurate care plans and documentation.

Angela Luciano - Team Leader

Angela is a native Italian speaker, so is able to converse well with some of our Italian residents. She has been an integral part of our team for the past 5 years. She is an outstanding carer and always puts the interests of the resident first.





Stacie Wingrove - Head Chef

Stacey believes fresh, home cooked food is the best and that good nutrition is crucial for care residents. Mealtimes are one of the highlights of the day.



Pauline Bliss - Head Activity Co-ordinator

Pauline has been in the care industry for 7 years and enhances the resident’s lives by creating a well rounded activity schedule to meet all the resident’s needs and wishes.

Martin Ngirishi- Senior Night Care Assistant

Martin is our Senior Night Care Assistant and has been with us since 2015. Martin is also training to be a Nurse, he has an excellent rapport with our residents.





Lucy Montouri - Housekeeper

Lucy has been working in our home since 1998. She ensures the home is spotless and welcoming. Whether it's a bedroom, a bathroom or the living areas, everywhere is fresh and ready.


Sheila Nyanzu- Night Care Assistant

Sheila has been at Newgrange since 2019, she is one of our Night Care Assistants. She has a warm, bubbly personality which the residents connect well with.
