Our Philosophy of Care
The overall aim of Newgrange is to provide care to all residents to an excellent standard. This embraces the fundamental principles of good care practice, and may be witnessed and evaluated through the delivery, conduct and control of quality care. Those who live in the home should be able to do so in accordance with their own individual requirements and to benefit from the care given.
Residents shall live in a clean, comfortable and safe environment and be treated with respect and sensitivity to their individual needs and abilities. Staff are responsive to individual needs and will provide the appropriate degree of care to assure the highest possible quality of life.
To meet these client needs the care services provided are designed to achieve the following objectives:
- A service of the highest quality that will improve and sustain overall quality of life.
- Flexible delivery of care services in an attentive and non-discriminatory fashion while respecting each resident's right to independence, privacy, dignity, fulfilment, and the rights to make informed choices and to take appropriate risks.
- Respect for each resident's needs and values in matters of religion, culture, race or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, political affiliation, marital status, parenthood and disabilities or impairments.
- Delivery of a full care service in accordance with the Statement of Terms and Conditions agreed at the point of moving into the home.
- Managing and implementing a formal programme of staff planning, selection, recruitment, training and personal development to enable care needs to be met.
- Efficient and effective management of the care service to make best use of resources and to maximise value for money.

Newgrange aims to provide its residents with a secure, relaxed, and homely environment in which their care, well-being and comfort is of prime importance. If you have any feedback or comments, please contact us.
Care staff will strive to preserve and maintain the dignity, individuality and privacy of all residents. We cover a broad range of special needs for the elderly and infirm, where their requirements may be medical/therapeutic (for physical and mental welfare), cultural, psychological, spiritual, emotional and social, they are therefore encouraged to participate in the development of their individual care plan in which the involvement of family and friends is also encouraged and greatly valued. We also operate an open visiting system and encourage family and friends to visit at any time. Families are welcome to join their relatives for lunch if they inform the cook first!
The development of the resident's care plan will be achieved through programmes of activities of mental alertness, self-esteem, and social interaction with other residents and with recognition of the following core values of care which are fundamental to the home’s philosophy.
CORE VALUES OF CARE
All care staff within the home are appropriately qualified to deliver the highest standards of care. A continuous staff training programme is implemented to ensure that these high standards are maintained in line with the latest initiatives and developments in care practices as may be laid down in appropriate legislation, regulations and the National Care Standards Commission guidelines.

Our overall philosophy of care is "treat all residents and colleagues as you wish to be treated yourselves". If a moment is taken to consider all actions in this light, then the best care will follow.
